Project VF - The Beginning

I built a platform from 2x10 joists, with lag bolts under the corners for leveling and big eyelets for the tiedowns. The bike was centered and strapped down.

Here's the rear wheel and swingarm in their new location.

VF750 side view of the jig

First thing was a crude jig around the various components. The front wheel wasn't going to be moved, so securing it was fairly easy. The rear wheel and swingarm would be moved back 19" so that part of the jig had to hold everything aligned during relocation. The engine and central frame needed to drop 2" without any front/back movement and that jig needed to be strong enough to support a lot of weight. Building all of this took more time than expected but I knew time spent here would pay off in the end.

Seat subframe and shock mount cut off and discarded

The first cuts were on the rear subframe. I can't imagine life without my SawzAll. It took about three minutes and the subframe fell free.
When I stripped off the wiring loom, I carefully taped and tagged each connector for later reference. The loom will need to be heavily modified and marking everything now will make modifying it easier.

The main frame cuts took a little longer but went just as easily. When the swingarm assembly dropped free, I knew there was no going back.
