There is surprising little to read regarding trail and virtually nothing on it's relationship with rake. Having owned both of the motorcycles at right, I know they worked very well despite their obvious differences.
To find out why I built the Test Mule to experiment with various combinations of rake and trail, then measure the effort needed to turn the front wheel. All the combinations worked in one way or another, but some were clearly better and now I know why.
In the end I'll chose one setup for the prototype and see if I'm happy with it. If not, I'll know what needs to be changed, and why.
