The Rear Brake
This was an earlier experiment with a knee-activated
brake. As you can see, the Rube Goldberg mechanism involved scrap wood,
drywall screws, cheap nylon rope, and part of a child's hiking boot. It
didn't work very well but made me laugh when I looked at it.
On the back wheel are these not-so-impressive
brakes. They came from one of the flea market bikes I bought.
The rope and wood and shoe have been replaced by a
foot pedal and a steel cable which works far better.
