ProjectVF: Frame Modifications to the Headstock

Back to the Design Goals page
The entire head-bearing portion of the frame needs to be cut away. As shown on the model, a large monoshock is supported by an arched tube which spans the two sides of the frame. It's going to look crude compared to the original frame, but most of it will be hidden beneath stylish bodywork.

Unfortunately, the monoshock concept didn't seem to work very well, and the arched tube was a little too difficult to fabricate. For now I'm using a piece of 1" x 1-1/2" rectangular tubing to support a pair of coilover shocks. It's ugly but ought to work fine.
