ProjectVF: The Air Scoop and Filter

Back to the Design Goals page
Due to the V4 design, the carburetors sit inside the "V", facing upward. Atop that is a large, plastic airbox which contains the air filter and tries to reduce engine intake noises. I'm not too worried about the intake noise but the carbs need a filter. A big, open scoop may look pretty hot, but when you're cleaning junebugs out of the carbs and intake manifolds, you might reconsider. Scoop height is another issue. In order to keep the deck height as low as possible, areas such as the scoop needs to be carefully considered.
